"....Tommy in Service Dress Cap resting on arms reversed on rectangualr plinth and two-stepped base. Slope of plinth bears relief of a Zeppelin and aircraft, and a submarine. Inscription: TO THE MEMORY/ OF THE MEN OF/ COWPEN AND DISTRICT/ WHO MADE THE/ SUPREME/ SACRIFICE/ IN THE WARS OF/ 1914 - 1918 AND 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE...."
