"Felkington was part of the Bishop of Durham's estate of Norhamshire. Several documents from the 16th and 17th centuries record details tenants and taxpayers, giving some idea of the population at this time. For example, in 1580 there were five tenants and in 1666, 24 householders were liable for the Hearth Tax...." -
