Witton Shields Tower
-
Description
"Whitton Shields is an old house, probably built in the 17th century, though it probably contains the remains of an earlier building. It is a typical fortified house of this period. It is possible that there was once a small watchtower on the western side of the roof. The house once contained a small Roman Catholic chapel of 17th century date, though this has now been removed....." -
