Fancy Dress At The Miners' Hall.

  • Description

Description: This is a photograph of a fancy dress ball at the Miners' Hall, Seaton Delaval, Northumberland. Date: c. 1920. This photograph is taken from a larger collection that show scenes from the traditional gala days, fairs and carnivals that took place in Northumberland. These community events were popular in Northumberland and are very old traditions in the region. However the majority of these photographs were taken in the mid-20th century. The photographs are images of fancy dress, parades and entertainment and serve as a great example of the strong community spirit within the region. Many similar events take place in Northumberland today.
