Newton Arlosh Church

  • Description

"The Church of St John the Baptist was built in 1303 by the monks of nearby Holme Cultram Abbey and was fortified - a feature occasionally seen on English churches close to the Scottish border. It fell into disrepair following the dissolution of the monasteries but was restored in Victorian times." Photo by Stephen McKay, 2014.
