The River Derwent enters Derwent Water
-
Description
"Sediment brought down by the river has accumulated at its mouth, creating several small islands with channels between. This is said to be an example of a bird's foot delta, similar to that of the Mississippi but on a more modest scale http://beta.nationaltrust.org.uk/things-to-see-and-do/view-page/item579536/290622/ . For a zoomed-in view see [[2820386]] . The photo was taken from Surprise View http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2820384 . The Mary Mount Hotel is seen directly below."
