    "War memorial and attached cottage. 1922. Polished marble. Erected to commemorate those men who worked for the Mainsforth Colliery. A rectangular grey marble plaque topped by curved moulded cornice. The centre contains a carved laurel wreath surrounded by the inscription: - MAINSFORTH COLLIERY AND FERRYHILL STATION, WAR MEMORIAL, 1914-1919. Below are listed the names of all those who died in three columns. Beneath is inscribed: - THEIR NAME LIVETH FOREVER....."
