Old Milestone by Linefoot Farm

This old milestone on the A594 Cokermouth to Maryport road is located by the entrance to Linefoot Farm, about 1½ miles north-east of Broughton Moor. The milestone was erected in the late 18th or early 19th century by the Cockermouth & Maryport Turnpike Trust. The former toll road (now the A594) to the north of the milestone follows the route of an old Roman Road. The milestone is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
