Old Milestone, Broughton Cross
There is an ld Milestone on the old A595 road, at the eastern edge of Broughton Cross. It was erected in the early 19th century for the Cockermouth-Workington Turnpike. The original milestone is badly damaged, but stands beside a larger replica built with the support of The Milestone Society. The old milestone is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
