This old milepost was located on the side of Stockton Road in Castle Eden, outside Risling (house). It is a triangular cast-iron milepost, erected by the Bishopwearmouth & Norton Turnpike Trust in c.1792. The milepost is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England, giving it legal protection. However, the milepost is noted as having disappeared in 2017[1], and is not present on Google Street View (August, 2023).
