Old Hutton, Cumbria

Old Hutton is a distributed village in Westmorland and Furness, in the ceremonial county of Cumbria, and located about 3½ miles south-east of Kendal. There are 3 main parts to the village, which could be considered separate hamlets. The largest part of Old Hutton includes the Church and school; the other parts are Bridge End (around the bridge over Peasey beck) and Hutton Gate (by the crossroads on the Kendal road). In addition, there is Hutton Yeat, Hutton Manor and Mill Bank. Historically, Old Hutton was a township, which covered a wide geographical area, including Holmescales, and was part of the ancient parish of Kendal. Today, the settlements form Old Hutton and Holmescales Civil Parish.
