Old Fire Station, Fulwell

The fire station on Station Road in Fulwell was built in 1945. The station closed in 2015, when operations were transferred to a new community fire station at Marley Park. Some of the artefacts from the old station were incorporated into the Engine Room bar within The Fire Station arts and music hub on Hight Street West, in Sunderland.

Fulwell opened on 7th April 1942 but was very badly damaged by a bomb on 1 May the same year. It re-opened later in the War. Originally a one story building it had a number of extensions both upwards and outwards until it was closed in August 2015.
