The stone obelisk in The Square is a prominent focal point in Broughton-in-Furness. The obelisk was erected in 1810 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of King George III. The obelisk and adjacent stocks (of uncertain date) are Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.
