Naess Crusader (launched 1972)
Naess Crusader was Sunderland's longest ship at 291.74m in length, built by Sunderland Shipbuilders Ltd at the North Sands Shipyard. The bulk carrier oil and ore ship was launched on 21/12/1972 and delivered as Naess Crusader to the owners, Anglo Eastern Bulkships Ltd on 17/07/1973, after which it was renamed as Nordic Crusader. The ship was sold in 1980 and had a series of new owners and names until it was eventually decommissioned and broken up at Chittagong, Bangladesh in 1998.[1]
