Lily Bank, Wallsend


Lily Bank is a road in old Wallsend, which  falls within The Green Connservation Area. Lily Bank Cottage dates for the early-19th century. The postbox on Lily Bank dates from the mid-19th century. Roadside wall boxes first appeared in 1857 as a cheaper alternative to pillar boxes, especially inrural districts. The postbox is on the List of Buildings, Parks and Gardens of Special Local Architectural or Historic Interest ('Local List') for North Tyneside.
