Kearstwick
Kearstwick is a hamlet, located about ¾ mile north of the town of Kirkby Lonsdale. It falls within Kirkby Lonsdale Town Council area and the Westmorland and Furness Council area. The hamlet is situated on the B6254, which was an old turnpike road, and an old milestone remains by the road. A small beck flows through Kearstwick and continues on to join the River Lune near Kirkby Lonsdale; the small stone South Bridge over the beck in Kearstwick has a plaque recording it's repair in 1925. In the hamlet, Kearstwick Hill (house) dates from the mid 18th century and is a listed building. There are also some 19th century buildings, including Kearstwick Lodge and Kearstwick Cottages (both listed buildings). Kearstwick Institute was built in 1902.
