High Carrick (Hepple)

High Carrick is a farm in Northumberland, located about 2¾miles north-east of Otterburn and 4½ miles south-west of the village of Hepple. It is on the edge of the MOD's Otterburn Training area. The present farmhouse dates from the mid-19th century, but there has been a farm here since the 14th century.[1] Whellan's 1855 directory of Northumberland records Thomas Arkle Esq. as the farmer here at that time - he was also superintendent registrar of births, deaths, and marriages for the Rothbury Poor Law Union.[2] Historically, High Carrick was part of Woodside Ward, a township in the ancient parish of Elsdon. Since 1955, High Carrick has been part of Hepple Civil Parish
