Hampeth

Hampeth is a hamlet in Northumberland, located about 3½ miles south of Alnwick and 1½ miles south-west of the village of Shilbottle. It consists of two rows of colliery houses on Beackon Road. The houses were built for workers at Whittle Colliery, which was located nearby, to the south-west of the hamlet (21 houses built for the miners and 8 for the officials). The colliery operated from 1920 to 1987. Hampeth is part of Shilbottle Civil Parish.
