Gosforth Hall Inn


Gosforth Hall Inn is a hotel, located off Wasdale Road in Gosforth, Cumbria. It was originally built as a house in 1658 for Robert and Isabel Copley (the date and initials R.C., are on a lintel, re-used in the adjacemt barn). The building was altered and extended in c.1673 (date over fireplace). features original sandstone walls and oak beams, with a coat of arms dated 1673. There were later alterations and remodelling. Gofforth Hall is a Grade II* listed building on the National Heritage List for England. The gatepiers of c.1658, to the south of the Hall, are seperately Grade II* listed. The barn & stables of the Hall are Grade II listed.
