Central Arcade, Ashington


Central Arcade is large Baroque-style building on Woodhorn Road in Ashington. The former premises of the Ashington Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd. was originally constructed in 1924 by Harrison, Ash and Blythe of Newcastle. It was a shopping arcade with offices and a ballroom above. The ground floor remodelled as a department store 1976. The building is Grade II listed in the National Heritage List for England. Today, the building hosts Dance Delicious nightclub, and the ground floor has a number of businesses, including Beauty At Your Fingertips, Vapours ecig, Select Convenience, Big D's Dessert and Burgers Co, and Ashington Fruit & Veg.
