Former Birdhopecraig Church, Rochester

The former Birdhopecraig Church, now converted into a holiday home, is located at the north of Rochester in Northumberland. It was built in 1826, originally as a Scottish Presbyterian church. The church replaced an earlier chapel of 1682, which was located about a mile to the north-west near Birdhopecraig Hall (the Hall was recorded in 1584 but was destroyed by fire in August 1957). The new Birdhopecraig Church became a United Reformed Church in c.1972. Inside, there is a gallery around three sides, supported on columns, and a central pulpit. The building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
