Duke Street is a road along the quayside at North Shields. The east end of the street continues on to Collingwood Street, towards the Fish Quay. Smiths Dock is located at the west end of the street. Ferry Mews and the landing for the Shields Ferry is at the east of Duke Street. The once industrial area has been redeveloped for residential usage; In 2019, The Smokehouses were built part of the former Smith's Dock site; in 2000 the Brewery Bond former warehouse was converted into flats; and in 2005, the Crane House pub was redeveloped as apartments.
