Cross Gill (trib. of South Tyne)

Cross Gill is a tributary of the River South Tyne. It arises at Cross Gill Head and flows 6.4 km NNE to join the River South Tyne to the south of Garrigill. Cross Gill has many tributaries, including Warm Burn, Linkinhow Sike, Reckergill Sike, Duffergill Burn, Redmire Burn, Brown Gill, and Doups Burn. There was extensive lead mining in the area and there are disused lead mine workings along the valley of Cross Gill and the vallies of some of it's tributaries, particularly Doups Burn.
