Crimdon Beck

Crimdon Beck is a stream in County Durham which runs through Crimdon Dene and discharges into the sea near Crimdon. It is a 'misfit' stream - much smaller than the wide valley, which is a limestone gorge, carved by the water from melting ice at the end of the last ice age.[1] Layers of glacial clay, sand and gravel were deposited in the valley at this time. Crimdon Dene is a nature reserve and is spanned by the Crimdon Dene Railway Viaduct
