Chainley Burn
Chainley Burn is a tributary of the River South Tyne. Chainley Burn forms at the confluence of Brackies Burn and Bradley Burn at Vindolanda. If flows in a roughly southerly direction past Westwood to join the South Tyne at Bardon Mill. A water-powered wool mill on Chainley Burn at Baron Mill was established in the 18th century. The site of the mill is now part of the pottery of Errington Reay & Co. Ltd. The catchment area, including Brackies Burn, Bradley Burn and other smaller tributaries is 21.7 km2.[1]
