Castlesteads
Castlesteads is a large county mansion, located just under a mile south-west of Walton, and 1½ mile north-west of Brampton in Cumbria. The house, situated near Cam Beck, was built for John Johnson in the late 18th century. The estate having been purchased by Mr Johnson in 1789. Originally called Walton House, it replaced an earlier house of the Dacre family, known to have been on this site and built with stone from the nearby Roman Wall. Castlesteads is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England.
