Buccleuch Dock

Buccleuch Dock is one of the four docks that make up the Royal Port of Barrow. It took almost 10 years to build and was opened in 1873. Like the adjacent Devonshire Dock, it was designed to accommodate large vessels. The dock was named after the 5th Duke of Buccleuch, who played a key role in developing public services in Barrow-in-Furness, during the later 19th century.
