Brewery Bond, Duke Street, North Shields
Brewery Bond apartments are located on Duke Street, North Shields. This was originally a warehouse, dated 1871, and the only surviving of what was the High Brewery site, which was operated by William Henry Allison Co. In 1890, it was one of five breweries which formed Newcastle Breweries Ltd. High Brewery closed in 1925 and the brewhouse and chimney were later demolished. Before the brewery, it was the site of the Pow and Fawcus' foundry. The warehouse was converted into flats in 2000, with the addition of a contemporary contrasting glass and steel frame extension.
