Blackhill Conservation Area
The conservation area covers an enclave of 19th-century buildngs and development in Blackhill, County Durham. The area maintains a distinct and strong Victorian character and includes two main green spaces: Benfieldside Cemetery, and Consett and Blackhill Park. It also includes classic victorian terraces and large 19th century houses on Aynsley Terrace and Laburnum Avenue, that overlook the park and cemetery.
Blackhill Conservation Area was designated by the former Derwentside District Council in 1994. The boundaries were revised in 2009 following a conservation area appraisal.
