Bede's Well

This former well is located north of The Grange in Monkton. Local tradition associates the well with the Venerable Bede. The well was described in Brand's History of Newcastle (1789). The well is enclosed in a rectangular, stepped stone enclosure, surrounded by more modern brickwork. It is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
