Beckermet with Thornhill Civil Parish

Beckermet with Thornhill Civil Parish is located in the Copeland district of Cumbria, on the western edge of the Lake District. The parish of Beckermet was created in April 2011, incorporating parts of the old parishes of Beckermet St. John's and Beckermet St. Bridget's. The two larest settlements in the civil parish are the villages of Beckermet and Thornhill; it also includes the northern part of the Sellafied nuclear site. In June 2012 the name of the parish was changed to Beckermet with Thornhill.

Note: the maps below pre-date 2011 boundary changes:

St John Beckermet - the old parish, which now forms part of Beckermet with Thornhill Civil Parish

St Bridget Beckermet - the old parish, most of which now forms part of Beckermet with Thornhill Civil Parish. However, Calderbridge and Calder Abbey were transferred to the neighbouring Ponsonby Civil Parish.
