Barhaugh (Alston)

Barhaugh in Northumberland is located north of Alston. Barhaugh Hall and Barhaugh Park are situated by the confluence of Barhaugh Burn with the River South Tyne. Barhaugh was a medieval manor. The remains of Barhaugh Burn Mill can still be seen beside the burn. Barhaugh Colliery operated as a drift mine in the late 19th and 20th century. The small mine was owned by F. Shepherd, until closing in 2004.
