In Northern England:

  • 1st April 2023: Cumbria County Council was replaced by two unitary authorties - Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council. Cumbria remains as a ceremonial county.
  • 17th April 2023: the Union Chain Bridge over the River Tweed was re-opened, following a 30 month restoration programme.
  • 22nd April 2023: The Farrell Centre, in Newcastle, was opened to the public
  • 25th May 2023: 'Lilidorei' childrens' fantasy playground at the Alnwick Garden opened to the public.
  • September 2023: The Sage Gatehead is renamed The Glasshouse International Music Centre.
  • 23rd September 2023: opening of the new North Shields Transport Hub
  • 28th of September 2023: the tree at Sycamore Gap senselessly cut down

Co-Curate is a project which brings together online collections, museums, universities, schools and community groups to make and re-make stories and images from North East England and Cumbria.
