Tyne-Tees Steam Shipping Co. Ltd.

The Tyne-Tees Steam Shipping Co was formed in 1904 following mergers and aquisitions; in 1903, the Tyne Steam Shipping Company (founded 1864) aquired the Tees Union Shipping Company, which had taken over the London & Middlesbrough Steamship Company in 1880. In 1904, the new company was formed, following the additional purchase of Furness, Withy and Co. (Harlepool). The company ran steamships trading, from Newcastle to London, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp and Ghent, and from Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, and Scarborough to London, also Sunderland to London.
