Stocksfield War Memorial


The war memorial in Stocksfield was built by public subscription on a site given by Lord Allendale. It was designed by Dixon & Son Ltd of Newcastle and built by William Strachan of Riding Mill. The memorial was commemorates 40 local servicement who lost their lives in the First World War. It was unveiled by Viscountess Allendale in a ceremony 12th February 1921.[1] It was rededicated in November 1946 once the names of the 11 fallen of the Second World War had been added. The memorial Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
