Steetley Pier, North Sands

Steetley Pier off North Sands in Hartlepool was built for the former Steetley Magnesite plant in the 1960s. The 2,000 ft pier was built to provide fresh seawater for the plant. The plant produced about 250,000 tonnes of high quality grade Magnesia a year. It closed in 2005, following a series of take overs.
