Shankhouse

Shankhouse is a district of Cramlington in Northumberland. Today it is a large residential area associated with the development of the 'New Town' of Cramlington. Prior to that there were farms in the area, including Shankhouse Farm and Stickly Farm. In c.1896(?) Shankhouse Colliery and an associated mining community developed here.
