The last days of Teesside's trolley buses - take a journey back into the past

  • Description

Teesside Live 14th October 2018. Video "...Travellers might remember Teesside’s trolley bus network was around 10 miles long and ran in a circular route starting from North Ormesby and along to South Bank and Grangetown. The wires then took the trolleys to Eston where they turned right along Eston High Street towards Normanby. The depot was at Cargo Fleet and the buses would be manned by a two person crew - a driver and a conductor......They were attached to overhead wires by connecting rods - if they became detached, the bus would come to a grinding halt and the conductor would have to walk around the back of the vehicle and retrieve a long pole kept underneath the bus to manoeuvre the connecting rod back on to the electric wire above...."
