Old bridge over Elsdon Burn from Mote Hills
-
Description
"Elsdon Tower can be seen behind. The complex rearrangements of the turnpike roads in the early C19th that led to the building of the bridge in 1825 are described here http://www.northumberlandnationalpark.org.uk/understanding/historyarchaeology/historicvillageatlas/elsdonvillageatlas/elsdonhistory/elsdonroadscommunications The final alteration saw the bridge itself become redundant as the stretch of road from Elsdon village to the north was rerouted along the east side of the Elsdon Burn."
