"The Village Lock-up dates from the early C19th and still has chains attached to the walls. It is a Grade II Listed Building http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1178865 Before a national system of policing was set up many villages has their own form of lock-up or jail.
