Longtown Bridge

  • Description

"View of the 18th century bridge from upstream. The river is in spate after heavy rain. Longtown has a somewhat turbulent history, being very close to the Scottish border. The area was often raided for cattle and other goods by the Border Reivers. Longtown has the largest sheep market in England." Photo by Lynne Kirton, 2008.
