    "The front face of the memorial is inscribed : These fell for their country 1914 - 1918 (14 names listed) 1939 - 1945 (4 names listed). The other three faces are inscribed : These served in the forces 1914 - 1918 (54 names listed). The first person named on the memorial is Ellie Porter, who died in 1918 whilst serving in the Women's Land Army. Eskdale War Memorial was designated a Grade II listed building in June 2017.
