    "Memorial to Major William Thain (1797-1841), who was killed by a poisoned arrow while serving in Afghanistan. He and Miss Sarah Losh were acquainted (there is NO firm evidence they were lovers) and before his death he sent Miss Losh a pinecone. Accordingly, pinecones and arrows are much in evidence around St Mary's." Photo by The Carlisle Kid, 2017.
