This way up, by Stephen Newby

  • Description

"Curvaceous metal sculpture in the heart of Saltwell Park. This work explores the exchange of ideas between modern art and design - looking at sculpture and 3D design, combining art indebted to design and designed objects that resemble works of art. The work intends to set up contradictions of form, material and scale. The shiny curvaceous metal skin of the sculpture will appear to be in a 'familiar' ephemeral state - the 'play' of light on the surface creating a shifting and inconstant presence that emphasizes illusion rather than physicality....."
