Ventilation Shaft, Tocketts Ironstone Mine

  • Description

"Behind the footbridge across Tocketts Beck the chimney extension to the shaft would have increased the ventilation to the mine which operated from 1871 to 1877. The main shafts for the mine were located south west of Tocketts House (at NZ620179) where a standard gauge branch line terminated from the Chaloner Mine (at NZ603175)." Photo by Mick Garratt, 2007.
