Description
"This was the Barrage Balloon Centre of RAF Longbenton. It included four barrage balloon sites for mooring balloons, a number of air raid shelters and sme slit trenches. Associated buildings were quite extensive. An airship hangar was photographed in 1992. Now demolished. Surrounded by timber huts. There was a complex of pillboxes in this area...."
