Middle End Farm over Great Eggleshope Beck

  • Description

"Middle End Farm, with its very distinctive barn ( http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/449441 ) forms a landmark for drivers heading north on the !B6278. The buildings are all painted white, indicating that they are part of the extensive Raby estate. It lies between Little Eggleshope Beck and Great Eggleshope Beck, just above the confluence which forms the Eggleston Burn, a fine spate run for kayakers. Although the nearby http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2156444 is the preferred put-on in high water, Great Eggleshope Beck is probably a better bet in more marginal conditions, access being via a gate behind and to the photographer's right, down to the near bank."
