It's official now - TyneMet and South Tyneside College have merged

    Chronicle Live, 9th August, 2017. "Two colleges on opposite sides of the river Tyne have officially merged. South Tyneside College and Tyne Metropolitan College (TyneMet) have joined forces and will now be known as Tyne Coast College. Bosses say the move will strengthen and expand the provision of further education for years to come. They insist business will continue as usual and Tyne Coast College will operate from campuses on both sides of the river, serving around 15,000 full and part-time UK and overseas students. They also say the colleges will continue as distinct brands, as will South Shields Marine School, which is operated by South Tyneside College, and Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College in North Tyneside, which is part of TyneMet....."
