"Clifford's Fort west and south west wall. G.V. II* Fort wall, 1672. Sandstone ashlar and brick. Tapered nosed wall; brick upper courses with bricked-up musket holes. Partly obscured by later buildings.....Partly demolished by building work south of Trinity House almshouses in progress at time of survey. A scheduled ancient monument....." -
