Brislee Tower: view over Hulne Abbey to the coast
-
Description
Brislee Tower was constructed in 1781 by Matthew Mills, to a design by Robert Adam. It was commissioned by the 1st Duke of Northumberland in memory of his wife, who had died five years earlier. It stands in Hulne Park. It is opened occassionally and from the top you can see as far as the Cheviots, Lammermuir Hills, Holy Island, and (it is claimed) Durham. -
